AGARIC A -  Produce spores on the underside of their caps from gills, whereas Boletes, that can be similar in look, produce spores from sponge-like tubes.

 

EXPLANATION FOR COMMON TOADSTOOL AND FUNGI NAMES

Amanita vaginata [The Grisette] : 'Grisette' is French for a 'grey fabric dress' and cap colour is grey - voila !

Armillaria mellea [Bootlace Fungus] : The 'bootlace' refers to the underground 'roots' the fungus uses to spread as they resemble shoelaces

Amanita muscaria [Fly Agaric] : Fungus is attractive to flies, not just to gnomes with fishing poles
