'Sunday Post' newspaper cartoon character 'Oor Wullie', who celebrated his 80th birthday in 2016 and was used to raise funds for childrens' charities. There were 55 painted, 5-foot statues placed around Dundee area in summer of 2016, and later auctioned off.
From left, all at Broughty Ferry : RNLI lifeboat statue at Broughty Lifeboat Pier; a statue in Dawson Park; another at Tay Yacht Club bridge entrance and the last at Broughty Castle

From June 29 until their auction at the V&A Museum on September 24, 2018, Tayside was visited by 80 5-foot-high penguins.
Similar idea to Oor Wullie but this time they raised money and awareness for cancer charity 'Maggie's Dundee'.
'Absent', 'Crystal', 'Capguin', 'Bonnie', 'Penguin' and 'R2' were at Broughty Ferry with 'PJ', 'Dazzle', 'Chick' and 'Provincial' around Dundee
These two statues are on permanent display at Dundee city centre. Left is 'Dandy' comic book legend Desperate Dan with his hound Dawg being pestered by 'Beano' character Minnie The Minx [real name Hermione Makepeace].
The second is of the Dundee dragon - a fabled creature that killed nine maidens before being slain by Martin, one girl's boyfriend. Dundee place names remember this deed : 'Strathmartine', 'Baldragon Wood' [at Clatto Reservoir] and 'Nine Maidens'.
Children/adults can sit upon dragon and under its jaw is a button, which can be pressed to produce a small flame to light a cigarette

The above statues of cartoon newspaper character Oor Wullie were raising more money for children's charities from June 17, 2019, for 11 weeks. They appeared in Scotland's cities. The ones above are from Dundee [including Broughty Ferry]
My favourites of the ones I've viewed have to be 'Yeehaw Wullie' which reminds me of Woody from the film 'Toy Story' and 'Oor Freddie' in honour of Freddie Mercury
Dazzle Wullie has RSS Discovery in the background, which is at the V&A Museum
Wullie Underwater has him sitting on his bucket-shaped diving helmet with his proper bucket beside him

CIST BURIAL SITE
Off the beaten track in Crombie Reservoir, Dundee, and found this burial site uncovered in 1828 by a farmer and dating from Beaker People of 4000 years ago.
All the times I've been at Crombie and didn't even realise this existed.
Left is sign at site
Right is the cist itself
